About the Phrase, 'Too Good To Be True'

.
I'm convinced that a very hurt or very disappointed individual was the person who originally coined the phrase 'too good to be true.'  And since that time, that saying is what every skeptic and cynic uses when they don't want to see a cock-eyed optimist get ahead in life..

Thank God for the 'Too Good To Be True' people:

Christopher Columbus.

I am going to discover a new land.

Oh Columbus that thought is just too good to be true. We know the world is flat, you will sail off the edge of the earth and die.

Orville and Wilbur Wright

We are going to make a flying machine.

Orville and Wilbur, I see you're thinking those too good to be true thoughts again. If God meant men to fly, he would have given them wings.

Roger Bannister

I am going to break the four minute mile.

Roger, that just another one of your too good to be true ideas. Doctors have proven that if you strain your heart that hard in an attempt to break the four minute mile, your heart will explode and you will die.

Thomas Edison

I am going to invent the electric light bulb to replace Kerosene Lamps.

Have you been drinking the hard stuff again Tom. Another one of your too good to be true ideas. Where do you get all of your too good to be true ideas?  A recording machine, you are going to invent too. Grow up Tom, become practical and thinks thoughts that deal with reality.

Alexander Graham Bell

I am going to invent a gadget where people in different cities can talk to each other over a wire.

Alex, poor Alex, deluded once again with another one of your too good to be true thoughts. We all know wire can't carry the human voice, Better people than you have tried and failed.

Werner Von Braun

We will invent a rocket that will take men to the moon.

Come on Werner, you must be smoking the weed again. Men in a rocket ship to the moon, that's a too good to be true thought if I ever heard one.

Frederick Zappone

I am going to simplify all of this self-help, law of attraction, mumble, jumble with a solitary thought that works to attract good things into our lives effortlessly and I am going to call it the 'One Magnificent Thought'

Frederick, how many times have I told you to keep quiet, other people might think you are one of those crazy too good to be true people.

-------------------------------------
Every so often something comes along that although
it sounds too good to be true, it  actually turns out
to be true. This is one of those times.
