The Bible consists of two books, the old and the new testaments. The word testament means covenant and the word covenant means agreement according to the dictionary. With this understanding we see the bible is divided up into two books, one with the old agreements in it and one with the new.
The old agreement is full of hell-fire and damnation. The new agreement spells out the two great commandments. "Love God with your whole heart, soul and mind and love your neighbor as much as yourself."
It is my understanding that when there is a new agreement, the old agreement no longer applies. If this true, why do so many churches preach from the old agreement rather than the new? Why do these churches scare people half to death rather than delivering sermons based, exclusively, on the two greatest commandments, in the new agreement, that have no fear in them at all?
