Fairness??

In 1920 the difference in pay between a janitor and the CEO of a major corporation was 47 to 1. For every dollar the janitor made, the CEO made 47 of them.

In the years 2000, the difference in pay between a janitor and the CEO of a major corporation was 14,000 to 1. For every dollar the janitor made, the CEO made 14,000 of them.

Today, in the year 2005, in every industrialized country in the world, with the exception of the USA, the ratio in pay between the janitor and CEO of a major corporation is about 80 to 1. What's wrong with this picture?
