People have rules for themselves that prevents them from having what they want.
For example, if you have rules that say you can't have love, health or money until "this" happens or until someone does "that" for you, you have painted yourself into a corner.
Your rules prevent God from showing you a infinite number of ways you can have what you want without having to be dependent on anyone, in particular, outside of yourself.
Rules close our mind to the messages of guidance and advice God is sending our way while having "no rules" opens our mind.
