These are the differences I have observed between religious and spiritual people. These differences don't apply to all religious and spiritual people, only some of them.
Religious people are afraid to think for themselves, spiritual people know thinking for themselves is the only way to discover the truth that will unchain their souls and set them free.
Religious people take freedom of thought away from other people while spiritual people give freedom of thought back to them.
Religous people believe God is out there somwhere, separate from themselves. Spiritual people know God is present with them. in this moment of time, in the here and now.
Religious people believe truth, spiritual people experience truth.
Religious people believe in God, spiritual people know God.
Religious people defend their beliefs, spiritual people do not.
Religious people live with doubt, spiritual people live with certainty.
Religious people only question what their religion allows them to question while spiritual people question everything. Religious people, often times, are rude, disrespectful and downright insulting of other people beliefs about God. Spiritual people, on the other hand, respects other people's belief about God no matter how different they might be than there own.
Again, as I said, these differences do not apply to all.
