Knocked out of my Good Attitude

Have you ever had someone knock you out of your good attitude? I have, it just happened to me a few minutes ago. I was going along fine and for reasons I don't understand this person developed an unexpected 'hostile attitude' towards me...

My inner reaction was one of being pissed off and wanting to engage this person in a verbal fight. Instead I didn't say a thing and ALLOWED the incident to die a natural death without adding fuel to the fire and making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Now even though the incident died out and the person and I are on good speaking terms with one another, the 'righteous fighter' in me is pissed off that it didn't get its way... It didn't get to fight and hurt someone so it is taunting me for not standing up for myself when someone disrespected me.

What the 'righteous fighter' in me, my ego, doesn't understand is that it take more courage to let an hurtful incident pass me by than it does to add hurt on top of hurt by getting into a fight with someone over their accidental or unconscious expression of disrespect towards me.

Anyone can enter into a verbal fight with another which never leads to any good. On the other hand it requires non-physical courage to take the high road and climb back into a good attitude with another rather than allowing another person to anger you enough to get into a verbal fight with them.

In every moment of my life I get to choose what my attitude will be.
Feeling good is my attitude of choice therefore when people have
a bad attitude towards me it gives me the opportunity to practice
taking the high road and maintaining a good attitude with myself.
