I have been a member of the Peace Alliance since it began 5 years ago. The Peace Alliance has made great strides in bringing about the formation of the 'Department of Peace' within the United States government. You can help make this dream our shared reality. It is free to join the Peace Alliance and your membership in the Alliance will make a difference. The Peace Alliance Enters Major New Phase in Our Work
Our ROADMAP for Peace!

Dear Supporter,

This year marks the fifth anniversary of The Peace Alliance. We are very proud of everything we have accomplished thus far and are excited to announce the launch of a major new phase in our work. We are confident that our planned efforts in support of the peacebuilding field will be groundbreaking and have a significant impact at a time that is ripe for change.

We expect the initiatives of our
2009/2011 Strategic Plan will be a game-changer in terms of how our nation approaches peace and conflict. The plan, which you helped craft through your feedback, provides a powerful roadmap to help realize the practical applications of peace in our personal lives, communities, country and world.

We will work, in partnership with the Student Peace Alliance, through the following three key areas:

  1. ADVOCACY: Advocate for evidence-based legislation and policy that will enhance our capacity to reduce violence and build sustainable peace both domestically and internationally. Currently supporting legislation to establish a U.S. Department of Peace and the Youth PROMISE Act.
  2. APPLIED PEACEBUILDING: Practice and promote community peacebuilding efforts that engage people in the day-to-day work of understanding and preventing violence in our homes, communities, and institutions as well as in our personal lives.
  3. COALITIONS & PUBLIC EDUCATION: Build broad-based coalitions, educate the public, and generate media in support of our specific policy and community service initiatives.

Many of you will see yourselves and your own passion somewhere in this plan. We cannot do this work without your support -- together we cannot fail. Please take a moment to seriously consider supporting our shared work.

Here's how you can help!

  1. Host a "Peace: Making it Real" House Party: Nationwide simultaneous events on December 5th and January 9th. Help us spread the word!
  2. Make a Donation: Help us fully realize our efforts! Donate here.
  3. Local Grassroots: Become a local congressional leader or join your local team. Click here.
  4. Spread the word: Use our handy tell-a-friend tool to let your friends know about our work.

Let us remember the heart of why we commit ourselves to this work.

Untold millions around the world suffer tragically violent living conditions. All of us are confronted daily with the struggles that conflict can bring into our lives and communities. Every social issue in our world has at its root a fundamental challenge of how to deal with ever-present conflict. The issues we are working to transform are core and underlying to almost every other issue we face.

Yet, there are solutions! Everyone knows that the levels of violence in our world are unacceptable yet few know that effective solutions DO exist. Our work is to bring those solutions to scale.

We have the tools and knowledge to make significant change now. If not us, then who?
Time is of the essence. There is no vested industry paying lobbyists to push for sustainable peace work on the ground, and let's be honest, this is what drives so much of our public policy.

Join us in making this plan a real proactive path to peace.
Imagine the difference we can make and the safe and secure world we could leave for our children and grandchildren.

With Great Hope (and a good plan!),

All of us at
The Peace Alliance
