Resolve to be more KIND TO YOURSELF In 2020

If you are feeling stressed out or uncomfortable living in your own skin that is a SIGNAL for you to begin being kind to yourself.

I have talked to thousand of people over the years and it is surprising to me the number of people who treat themselves very unkindly. To be honest about it, they treat themselves brutally, always criticizing or putting themselves down, rarely thinking the best about themselves.

Worry, anxiety, being afraid or living in a constant state of fear are all signs that you are not being kind to yourself.

 The  Dictionary Definition of KIND

  • of a good or benevolent nature or disposition.
  • having, showing, or proceeding from benevolence.
  • considerate, helpful, humane.
  • mild; gentle.
  • loving, affectionate.

Being kind to yourself begins with becoming conscious of those times when you are unkind to yourself....

Self-Kindness begins with how we talk to ourselves especially when things aren't going our way or we aren't getting what we want.  Kindness includes talking affectionately to our body along with thanking it for healing itself when we are sick or hurt ourselves.

Talking kindly to yourself is about replacing all of those cruel conversations you have with yourself with conversations that inspire, empower or energize you in some way.

Talk to yourself with the kind words you would share with a new born baby.  Be kind to yourself in all ways because you are worth it.

What does it mean to be kind to yourself?

It means to stop holding yourself to such high standards that you never feel like you are good enough. It means putting an end to comparing yourself to others. It means to stop  beating yourself up for making a mistake or for not being good enough at something.  Being kind to yourself, in all ways, will make you healthy, wealthy and wise.

A Noteworthy INSIGHT on Making Self-Love EASY for you... (Why Self-Love is HARD for so many people)

Self-love is really hard for people who don't understand what it means to actually love themselves.  To truly love yourself means to accept yourself EXACTLY as you are with all of your strengths and weaknesses.

Self-love is not about striving to be perfect. Striving to be perfect is not self-love at all, it is self-abuse. Acceptance of yourself exactly as you are takes the pressure off of loving yourself.

Once the pressure is off, you can forget about focusing on loving yourself. Instead you can focus on thinking thoughts and taking those actions that make you feel good to be you. The more you think thoughts and take actions that inspire and empower you in some way, the more you are extending kindness, respect and love to yourself.

Self-Love feels good, self-abuse does not. That's how you can tell whether you are loving yourself or abusing yourself.

Never feel guilty if you catch yourself abusing yourself. Instead use it as an ALERT SIGNAL to shift your focus to thinking thoughts and taking actions that make you feel good to be you.

Eleven (11) Ways To Be KIND To Yourself. -- (How To Be KIND To Yourself Through The HARD Times.)

If criticizing or beating yourself up through the hard times made things better for you I would support you in doing that but it doesn't.  All beating yourself does for you is that it makes the hard times, harder.

The reason you beat yourself up is because that's what the 'authority figures' in your life did to you during your growing up years. They did this in an attempt to get the best out of you. This  may work for a little while but in the long run, it does not. In the long run, beating people up turns them into people who beat people up.

You cannot be kind and respectful of other people if you are not kind and respectful towards yourself first. To make this world a better place for all of us, each of us has to learn how to be kind to ourselves no matter our circumstances. Be kind to ourselves under difficult circumstances is the greatest kindness we can do for ourselves.

HOW TO BE KIND TO YOURSELF

Be kind to yourself by asking yourself what you can do right now that will make you feel better about being you.  Anything you can do that makes you feel good to be you is extending kindness to yourself.

ELEVEN (11) WAYS TO BE KIND TO YOURSELF

1. Check your mental diet. Are you taking in more good news than bad.

2. Eat foods that comfort and energize you.

3. Hug as many people as you can as often as you can. And if hugging people is too scary for you, hug a tree. Seriously, hug a tree for thirty seconds and you will definitely feel it hug you back.

4. Move the body in ways that feel good to you. Walking, exercise, stretching, whatever feels like fun to you... FUN is the keyword.

5. Listen to music that softens your mood and warms you emotionally.

6. Take a long, hot  shower and enjoy feeling how the hot water loves washing over your body, wave after luxurious  wave.

7. Get yourself a big teddy bear or comfort blanket.  Watch shows from your childhood that made you feel good to be you.

8. Watch little kids and old people being kind to one another.

9.  Lay on the ground and watch the clouds form different shapes.

10. Get yourself a pet even if it is just a gold fish in a bowl.

11.  Being kind to yourself includes asking for what you want and keep asking for it until you get it. The reason most people don't get what they want is they don't ask often enough. Take a lesson from children. When a child wants something it is not afraid to ask until it gets what it wants. Ask and you shall receive, ask not and you shall receive not.
