GUILT - The Double Edged Sword (Good and Bad Sides)

A little bit of guilt is a good thing because it makes you a better person. Too much guilt is a bad thing because it makes you a worse person

What the hell were you thinking? Are you stupid or something? When are you going to grow up and quit being such a jerk? I can't believe you did that.  I raised you better than that. The next time you do that I am going to punish you so bad you will wish you were dead.

Too much guilt undermined a person's self-worth and makes them feel like they are a bad person. Once a person gets it into their head that they are a bad person they have no choice but to become the terrible person that you told them that they were.

A little bit of  guilt delivered with love, compassion and understanding, nurtures people and helps them build a strong sense of self-worth while too much guilt undermines and destroys self-worth.

Understanding Embarrassment

Embarrassment is the 'STOP YOU' emotion.

It is no accident that when we get embarrassed we turn red. Embarrassment is the 'Stop You' emotion.  I call it the 'stop you' emotion because it stops you from being you, it stops you from speaking up, it stops you from having what you want, it stops you from asking for what you want... 

We all have things we are embarrassed about, that is very normal. However when we use our feelings of embarrassment as an excuse to not ask for what we want, we lower our self-esteem and make our feelings of embarrassment a road block to the love, success, and happiness we want.  Embarrassment even causes us to not have the money we want, as in, I am too embarrassed to ask for a raise.

Even to this day, I embarrass easily, especially when I ask other people for help but I no longer let embarrassment sabotage my life or stop me from creating the life I want.  Once I understood the dictionary definition of the word embarrassed, I was free to be embarrassed and ask for help any way.

The Dictionary definition of the word: EMBARRASSED
 
1. to cause confusion and shame to; make uncomfortably self-conscious; disconcert;
2. to make difficult or intricate, as a question or problem; complicate.
3. to put obstacles or difficulties in the way of; impede:

I realized this morning that most people I know, and I do mean most people, are either ashamed or embarrassed of their 'personal power'. And that's why most people don't use their 'personal power' to create their life exactly the way they want it to be. Think about it for a moment, every time you expressed your 'personal power' during your growing up (formative) years someone squashed you, shut you down or talked you out of expressing your power.  If that doesn't make a person feel embarrassed and ashamed of their 'personal power' for a lifetime, I don't know what would. 

You can eliminate embarrassment and shame from your life by making the conscious intention to take back all the power you, unwittingly, gave away to others during your growing up years.  Once you make that conscious intention, you will naturally attract the information you need that will allow you to effortlessly reclaim all the power you gave away to others up until this point in your life. As a result of reclaiming your power, you will be able to create your future life, your way. It is the law.
