I Have A Big PROBLEM With This Joyce Meyer's Quote.

The problem I have with Joyce Meyer's quotation is that sometimes we are negative for a good reason. Are we suppose to deny how we truly feel and show up in the world as a fake person?

I think being negative from to time time is part of being human. That's being said, being negative is a place we visit from time to time but we don't have to live the majority of our lives from a negative state of mind.

I like being positive. I am positive most of the time but sometimes until I get sh*t worked out in my head I may appear to be negative to other people. In reality what I am doing is processing negative stuff that is going on inside my mind so I can feel good about myself again.

I believe in processing negative thoughts privately and then responding appropriately with grace, dignity and forgiveness when necessary.

Taking Actions that make you 'Feel Bad' are BAD for you.

Actions that feel bad are WARNING me that those are the wrong actions for me to take. The whole purpose of feeling bad is to ALERT me that I am thinking thoughts or taking actions that are the wrong thoughts or actions for me. They may be perfectly fine for someone else but they are definitely wrong for me. When you take actions that make you feel negative in any way (struggle, effort, stress) you are not attracting to yourself what you want, you are pushing what you want away from you.

Taming the 'Pity POOR Me' Part of Our Mind

We all have a 'pity poor me' part to our mind.  The way you tame it is not by resisting it but by embracing* it like you would embrace a small child who just scraped his knee.  Resisting the 'pity poor me' part of our mind makes it stronger and makes it persist longer.

*Embraces means to accept something willingly.

When you catch yourself in the 'pity poor me' frame of mind, go with it. Write down what the pitiful part of you is saying to the grown up part of you.  Shower it with compassion, understanding and love the same way you shower a small child when they have been wounded in some way. And just like a small child who has been cared for, you will find yourself naturally easing back into that feeling good state of mind again. 🌝
